Indicators: Competition and Participation. Both
are calculated using election data, and the
democracy index is estimated by combining
the two.
Competition: the percentage share of the smaller
parties and independents of votes cast
in partiamentary elections, or of the seats
in parliament
Participation: the percentage of population that
voted in elections
Index of Democratization is gained by
multiplying Competition and Participation
and dividing the outcome by 100.
