
Lenny Henry and Richard Curtis founded
comic relief in 1985.
Comic relief history
Comic relief was launched from refugee
camp in Sudan on Christmas day in 1985
Since Comic relief began,our two major
campaigns,Red nose day and sport relief
have raised over £650 million sport relief 2012
alone has raised an incredible £67,977,824 so
far and money is still coming in.
How do we decide which projects
to fund?
• Since comic relief began we have been
making grants in UK,Africa, and the worlds
poorest countries trying to assist those in
need.
• Our outcomes and programmes are
developed from years of funding and
analysing the out comes of our funding.
Red noses

We held our red nose day in 1988 which
sold three million noses and raised £15
million. We were surprised and inspired.
Since we embarked on this seriously funny
journey ,we’ve sold almost 60 million
rednoses and raised £600 million.
