HISTORY of 10 PIN 1908


British anthropologists found primitive
bowling balls, bowling pins and other
materials in the grave of an Egyptian boy
dating to 3200 BC, which was over 5200
years ago.
The first written reference to bowling dates
to 1366, when King Edward III of England
banned his troops from playing the game
so that they would not be distracted from
their archery practice. It is believed that
they bowled with canon balls

Bowling Rules



A game consists of 10 frames
Each box on the score sheet represents one frame
The max # of balls rolled in each frame is 2, EXCEPT on
the 10th frame.
SCORING



Frame 1, ball 1: 10 pins (strike)
Frame 2, ball 1: 3 pins
Frame 2, ball 2: 6 pins
The total score from these throws is:
Frame one: 10 + (3 + 6)= 19
Frame two: 3 + 6 = 9
TOTAL = 28
BOWLING A STRIKE


If you get a “strike” you have knocked down
all ten pins with your FIRST ball
Your first ball score 10 + the # of pins
knocked down with your next two balls
bowled in the next frames
Quiz: What is the maximum score in each
frame?
 Did you know three consecutive strikes is
called a “turkey”
 4+ strikes is called a “bagger”
BOWLING A SPARE


When you bowl a spare, you knock down
all 10 pins in 2 balls.
Your score for this frame is 10, plus the
number of pins knocked down with the next
ball you bowl in the next frame.
