A procedure that involves input, processing and

Manual system
A card index used in a library. Users can find out
which books the library has if they know the name
of the author as this is how the card index has been
sorted. They could be arranged by ‘Title’ instead.

ICT Systems
So, is this an ICT system?
No. This is just the hardware. An ICT system also
involves people, data, procedures, information and
software.

What is an ICT System
ICT systems are those where the output from the
system goes directly to a human being or into
another ICT system.
At a supermarket checkout, a part of the output is
an itemised receipt, which goes directly to the
customer.
Other outputs, for example, are items bought which
input into another part of the system for stock
control.
