C HILDHOOD AND YOUTH

 Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the eldest of the children of Charles Louis  In eight years, Franz Ferdinand became a half orphan  He received a strict upbringing, which was common for the Habsburg Archdukes: emphasis on the history and formation of the moral profile of the child.

T HE SUCCESSOR TO THE THRONE

 When Franz Ferdinand was born, there was no reason to assume that he could become a successor to the throne.

 Since 1889 (after the death of Prince Rudolph), he was the successor to the throne.

 Franz Ferdinand got married Sophia Chotkova, originally from Czech aristocratic family Chotek.
