Application Process
• Verifies academic and work experience
• Determines discipline and designation
Academic
• Graduate from a full-time, post secondary engineering or
applied science program or equivalent
• 2 year program earns C. Tech designation
• 3 year program earns C.E.T. designation
Work Experience
• 2 years within discipline required
• Co-op may count towards requirement
• Generally 1 year in Canada
Road To Certification
Professional Practice Examination
• Multiple choice exam, consisting of three parts;
Law, Ethics and Practice
• Must earn a minimum 50% grade in each part to pass
• May be written upon becoming an Associate Member
Technology Report
• Applicable to C.E.T. designation only
• Two step process; 1) submit a Proposal, 2) upon
approval, write and submit a Report

Membership
Associate Member – Post Secondary Student
• Must complete one year of a post secondary program in
engineering or applied science technology
• One time application fee of $50.00 plus HST
• Annual dues – first year are waived, $50.00 plus HST
each year in full-time program
• Maintain Associate Member status up to 6 years while
working towards certification
Certified Member
• Earned upon review and approval of all certification
requirements
