ANSWERS:

What is the function of the orange Swabcap device?
Passive protection of all PIV and CVC caps to minimize risk of infection
•
What is the function of the blue Sitescrub device?
Friction scrub of all CVC hubs, PIV and CVC caps for removal of debris, bacteria,
and biofilm immediately prior to each line entry
•
How do you use the Sitescrub device?
Push blue Sitescrub device firmly onto the PIV/CVC cap or hub. Rotate
Sitescrub back and forth EIGHT times over 10 seconds. Remove Sitescrub and
allow to air dry for 5 seconds prior to access.

Is use of Sitescrub required for hub entry or cap entry or both?
Both
•
Can Swabcap or Sitescrub ever be re-used on the same patient or the same line?
NO! Swabcap and Blue Sitescrub must never be re-used
