Definition of Acne
Acne is an inflammatory skin condition that
occurs when oil and dead skin cells block
the pore opening, causing sebum (oil) to
build up inside the pore.
Cleanser
Acne Life Cycle
Stage 1: Clogged Pores. Cells lining pores shed and
mix with excess sebum produced by sebaceous
glands, forming a plug, which leads to clogged pores.
Stage 2: Bacteria. Accumulated sebum and dead
cells attract the P. acnes (or propionibacterium)
bacteria naturally found in skin, which feeds on oil and
multiplies rapidly inside pores.
Stage 3: Inflammation. This bacterial overgrowth
triggers the natural inflammatory response causing
swelling and redness. This can ultimately lead to
discoloration and scarring.

Treating Acne
When treating acne topically, dermatologists recommend
a three-pronged approach:
• Unclog pores and keep them clear.
• Control oil which helps to limit bacterial growth.
• Reduce inflammation.

Introduction
Cleanser
The Cleansing Dilemma
Cleansing is a vital step for those suffering from acne. The
cleanser must be powerful enough to rid the skin of excess oils
and dissipate plugs from within the pores. However if
cleansing is too harsh, it can cause additional irritation or
overdryness, which breaks down the moisture barrier.
Scrubbing or using an exfoliant can spread bacteria and
increase inflammation. The ideal solution is a gentle cleanser
that has the ability to eliminate clogged pores, while also
maintaining the moisture barrier.
Cleanser
Nu Skin Clear Action™ Foaming Cleanser

bubbles deep into your pores.

union of oil and debris without the need for
scrubbing, Foaming Cleanser—a soap free

Cleanser
Key Benefit Supported
Addresses PRESENT issues of blemish-prone skin.
• Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid, penetrates pores and gently exfoliates
to eliminate most blemishes. Beta hydroxy acids provide long term benefits
by assisting the sloughing off of dead skin cells and speeding up the cell
renewal processes of the skin. Salicylic acid is lipophilic and, therefore, has
an affinity for oils allowing it to penetrate into the pores and break down the
plug. Salicylic acid keeps follicles clear so the pimple forming environment
is wiped out.
Cleanser
Key Benefit Supported
Addresses FUTURE issues of blemish-prone skin.
• TEA cocoyl glutamate is an extremely mild, yet excellent cleansing
agent. It is able to clean the skin and remove oil and shine without
causing irritation, tightness, or dryness. It leaves skin feeling clean,
soft, and supple.
