First, find a safe place to cross, then stop
Stand on the pavement near the kerb
Look all around for traffic and listen
If traffic is coming, let it pass. Look all around again
When no traffic is near, walk straight across the road
Keep looking and listening for traffic as you cross

Pedestrian Safety
Always use the pavement, where there is one
Walk on the inside of the pavement away from traffic
If there is no pavement walk on the right hand side of the
road so you are facing the oncoming traffic
If you must cross the road, find and use a safer place
