The current opportunity for ICT in education lies in
encouraging teachers to integrate technology
directly into teaching and learning
Most educators are
using technology for
productivity purposes
Stage 1: Digital
Literacy
Stage 2:

To support learning
outcomes, technology
must be integrated into
curriculum and
pedagogy

Deans and Faculty
• Provide a set of tools for the needs and situation
analysis of the state of ICT use in teaching,
learning and administration in pre-service
teacher training institutions
• By doing so, the institutions will be better
positioned to develop a strategic plan (long term
•
planning towards the organisation’s vision &
mission) to build their capacity for ICT integration
in education.
6 strategic dimensions:
1. Vision and Philosophy

Key elements:

specifically communication, collaboration, critical thinking and technology
literacy skills into high quality teaching and learning. Pre-service teachers
will leave workshop with tools and skills they can use in teaching pracs.
On-line follow-up module
After the workshop, participants independently complete an interactive, online module reinforcing what they learned in the workshop.
Participation in communities of learning
Join an on-line community of innovative teachers eg Partners in learning
Network, who share best practices and resources for using technology in the
classroom to strengthen teaching and learning.
Follow-up student projects
Transfer what was learned in the workshop to R-12 setting.
