Dimensions of Culture:

 Visible:   Behavior - daily habits of people Customs - a practice followed by people Question: What are some visible behaviors in Chinese culture?

 Invisible:  Assumptions - things that are understood  Values - things that are important  Beliefs - things that are seen as truth Question: What are some invisible dimensions of Chinese culture?

Group Discussion:

 Is there only one Chinese culture?

 What things about Chinese culture should a visitor to your country know about? Discuss the following aspects:     Visiting Someone’s Home: What is expected of the guest/host?

Holidays: When are they? What are some of the important traditions?

Social Customs: What is appropriate for dating, social activities, marriage?

The Arts: Music, Dance, Literature, Writing?

  Educational Culture: Who is educated? Why/How are they educated?

Religion: What are some traditions and practices?
