to systematically process index changes.
• Price adjustments such as stock splits or rights offerings
are adjusted in the pro forma file on the day the action
becomes effective in order to accurately reflect changes
in market capitalization.
• Pro forma files are updated between 7:00 P.M. and
10:00 P.M. New York City time and are posted to the
Dow Jones Indexes FTP site.

Frequently Asked Questions
• Are there any differences between the standard end-ofday files versus the pro forma index review files?

convention and that the files include component
changes that will be implemented at the quarterly
rebalancing.
• Does the name of the file change on a daily basis?
- No, the name of the pro forma file will not change. The
file will be automatically overwritten on a daily basis
using closing pricing from the current day.

Frequently Asked Questions
• How does the pro forma file account for a component
that has a stock split or rights offering in addition to a
previously announced shares outstanding change?
- Companies that have a price adjustment such as stock
splits or rights offerings will be adjusted in the pro
forma files on the ex-date of the event. If the shares
outstanding for the company are also being updated
with the quarterly review, the share change will be
updated to include the corporate action.
- Information related to stock splits or rights offerings for
index components are included in the splits file that is
sent with the final index review results on the second
Friday of each quarter or via our corporate action
watch lists.
