NBEMS Basic Setup and
Configuration for
PEMA/ACS Operations
Prerequisites for NBEMS Operations:
Current
versions of FLDIGI, FLMSG and
FLAMP downloaded and installed
A basic understanding of your computer
Operating System (OS)
Ability to create file folders and move files
Basic understanding of saving spread sheet
files to CSV (comma separated value) format

Download and install FLDIGI, FLMSG and FLAMP
from www.w1hkj.com/download.html

Double click on your FLMSG icon and follow the
installation wizard for the basic setup of FLDIGI

Fill in your personal data and click Next

Check “PortAudio” and select your sound card from the Capture and
Playback drop down boxes, then click Next

Make sure “Native” is selected for your Capture and Playback
Sample Rate, then click Next

Only check “use serial Port PTT” if you have a sound card interface
that uses a serial port for PTT and select the appropriate com port.

Now you should see the FLDIGI program:

Click on the Olivia Tab and make sure extended characters is checked

Click on the Thor Tab and enter your “secondary text” station ID info

Click on the UI and Macros Tabs and duplicate the following settings

Click on the Waterfall and Display Tabs and duplicate the following
settings

Click on the Waterfall, FFT ProcessingTabs and duplicate the
following settings

Click on the ID Tab, RsID, and duplicate the following settings then
click on “receive modes”

Click on “clear all”
then select only the
modes you want to
have FLDIGI auto
detect, then click
close.
IMPORTANT: now
click “Save, then
click Close at the
bottom of the
FLDIGI Configure
window.

Double Click the FLAMP icon on your desktop, then click on the
Configure tab and make sure all the boxes are unchecked

Double Click the FLMSG icon on your desktop, then fill in your
personal information

In FLMSG, click on Configure, then click on Date/Time then select
your time formats.
Important: Make
sure your computer
Operating System
time and UTC offset
settings are always
correct!

Go back to FLDIGI, click Configure, click Misc and select the NBEMS
Tab, duplicate the following settings then click “Locate flmsg.

Navigate to your program files then to the FLMSG folder, click on the
flmsg file in that folder then click “open”.

You should now see the FLMSG path including the flmsg.exe.
Click Save, then click Close.
