How has society changed by 2081?
Everyone is expected to be everyone else.
Government laws force those that are
more gifted to wear handicaps. No one
can share true feelings. Indeed, their
handicap makes it hard for them to think
about anything in detail for a long time.
( a society that has been equalized to the
point that the lives of the characters are
dull, uninteresting, and highly regulated. )
George’s beliefs about equality:
dark ages / competition / obeying the
laws /handicaps
Handicaps he is wearing:
• a pair of ear phones
• thick glasses with wavy lenses (giving him
headaches)
• a red rubber ball clown nose
• black caps on his teeth (to make him ugly)
• 300 pounds of scrap metal
