Transcript Pedal - MARTIN DIGITAL ORGANS

Presentation
for Trinity Cristo Rey Lutheran
Church, Santa Ana, CA
by
Christopher Martin Digital Organs,
Downey, CA
Overview


Most digital organ companies use a few samples for each rank of pipes, bent to different pitches
throughout the rank. The samples are very short, and often the beginning and the release are
truncated. This was useful years ago for conserving memory and processing power, but with the
technology currently available, it is outdated.
Our organs use samples for each and every note in a rank. Our samples are very long—usually
between 5 and 13 seconds. We use entire sampled organs so that the different voices blend together
in the way a master pipe organ builder voiced them over many hundreds of hours.

The difference in realism is astonishing and readily apparent even to untrained ears.

All of our organs use the same software platform, so they share a lot of advanced features in common:

Built in audio and MIDI recording (the organ can play itself with the press of a button).

Randomization modeling for tuning and tremulants (to better imitate the sound of a
pipe organ).

Swell shoes apply filters to each and every pipe separately in real time.

Touchsreen menu interfaces built into a drawer in the console.

Easy access to transposition, temperaments, pitch adjustment, volume adjustment,
and a host of other menu functions.

Multichannel audio routing: different divisions of the organ are routed to different
groups of speakers. Within those groups, each speaker carries its own pipe-load so
that no one organ pipe sounds from more than one speaker. This fools the ear much
better into believing it is hearing thousands of pipes than any possible stereo mix.

Studio 2 vs. Studio 3



Similar features, similar options, similar
stoplists.
The Studio 3 spreads the stops of the Studio
2 onto 3 manuals to better facilitate the
playing needs of liturgical worship and much
of the organ repertoire.
The Studio 3 has two enclosed expressive
divisions compared to one enclosed
expressive division on the Studio 2.

T3 vs. S3


Similar design and price
The physical stop controls of the T3 are
desirable for those who prefer a more
traditional experience at the organ console.
The touchscreens of the S3 allow for control
of unlimited organs and as many stops as
are on the stopjamb graphcis. For example,
a theater organ or 256 stops is easily
playable on the S3, but only limited stops
would be accessible from the T3.

Note regarding additional sample sets
The sample sets represented here are by no means
comprehensive. We've chosen what we believe
are both the best and most useful sample sets
available for general use. However, for interested
organists who would put them to good use, the sky
is the limit. Organs from the Italian Renaissance,
Spanish Baroque, French Baroque and Classical,
English Baroque, German Romantic, 20th century
theater organs and many more are available.
Nearly every major school of organbuilding is
represented in sampled form and available for use.
