“Wounded People Wound People”
Family Sermon Series
GENESIS 50:15-21

, “Every child grows up asking two questions:
o 1. Am I loved?
o 2. Can I always get what I want?”
“Wounded People Wound People”
 Many bitter people are holding on to pain. The
wound has infected their entire life. Jesus came to
save the ones who are lost and living with hidden
pain - living as a lost soul.
 You might even be scared. Giving up the pain you
have hidden for so long means you are opening
yourself up to the possibility of more pain. But, God
won’t hurt you. Let His healing wash out the fear and
bring you back to life once again. (November 17, 2011
by Robert Moment, “The World is Full of
Wounded People Wearing Masks.”)
“Wounded People Wound People”
“Outward behavior is often a meter, a gauge,
a measure of an inward struggle.”
(Dr. James Dobson)
“Wounded People Wound People”
What is the answer to wounded people

“Wounded People Wound People”
“When his brothers saw that their
father loved him more than any of
them, they hated him and could not
speak a kind word to him.” Gen 37:4

 “And they hated him all the more because of
his dream and what he had said. His
brothers were jealous of him,” Gen 37:8;11

 You know your education was not that great - You
know you did not come from the greatest
background – you know that at the end of the day
you were not smartest kid in the class.
 But you have been shown favor by God and blessed
by Him and you have a choice.
“Wounded People Wound People”
 What do we see when we see people in the valley? In
the pit? What is our mental perception of valley and
pit dwellers?
 Most people, standing on the fringe of the pit say,
“They are there because of some bad decision they
made?”
“Wounded People Wound People”
 A person can be in jail, but the jail does not have to
be in you.
 Those living wounded and with hurt – do not let the
hurt define you – you can define it – hold your head
up and move forward
“Wounded People Wound People”
 Immediately they fear for their lives, they think he is
going to have them killed, because this is how most
wounded people think – this is how they operate.
 Moreover; this is exactly what they did and would do
again if given half the chance.
 Wounded people continue to wound people.

Things to Remember and Practice
 Free people get ready to free people.
 Find someone different from you and work at freeing them.
 Example: We are considering having one of Hannah’s friends come live
with us. She is living in a terrible home life – wrecked by sin, wrecked
by dysfunction.
 They may be another race
 Find them and help them out of the pit!
 Our missions/evangelism committees are working to provide places
where you can help people in the pit.
 8 people from this church are leaving in June to help people out of the
pit.
 Lance Snipes is right now ministering to Christians who have been
thrown in the pit.
