Sexual Assault Prevention Class
Male and female students and employees of Columbus State Community College are encouraged to attend an
important safety training class offered at no cost by the CSCC Department of Public Safety in the Public Safety
Training Center, Columbus Campus (Delaware Hall, Room 021).
In this class, you will learn:
What is sexual assault
Prevention and safety tactics
The important role of bystanders
What to expect from the Police
What is Title IX?
What to expect from the Student Conduct Office
How to find local resources

TITLE IX

 Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX)
mandates compliance with regulations prohibiting gender
discrimination and inequity in athletics.
 The U. S. Department of Education implements the
regulations which apply to all public and private educational
institutions that receive Federal financial aid or assistance.
Title IX states that:
 No student shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from
participation in or denied equitable benefits of educational,
athletic or extra-curricular programs or activities.
 The regulations also protect anyone from sexual harassment,
sexual assault, sexual misconduct, stalking, intimate partner
and relationship violence and bullying.

students from all campuses and off-campus centers. You may
contact the Dean of Student Life office at 614-287-5299 or

 The office can provide assistance to victims, including
modifying class schedules, rescheduling exams, requesting
incompletes, switching class sections, temporary withdrawal,
and communicating with faculty members about absences.
The office can discuss options for pursuing criminal and/or
college disciplinary action against the accused and assist with
contacting law enforcement, but only if desired by the victim.
The office can also assist you in contacting additional
community resources for the College’s four-county service
area.

survive if you are prepared and react with conviction.
 Proficiency increases your survival.
 The other 10% of self defense is physical skills. This
too begins with an awakening of the physical power
within you.
