• Modernism was a design movement which believed LESS is MORE and the FORM (shape) of a product should FOLLOW it’s FUNCTION.

RULES – Portfolio Task 1

• 1 A2 sheet.

• 5 ideas each with no more that 3 colours.

• Dot stick your ideas (ask others).

• 250 word written justification for chosen pattern.

• Each pattern should be A5 (210x147).

• Each pattern should be coloured, pencils firstly and finally ICT.

Design and make a Memphis Lamp Case • Design and make a Vacuum formed case for the circuit. • SPECIFICATIONS – Wall mounted or free standing?

• Specification of your Memphis lamp (ACCESS FM) • 3D design of the shape for your Memphis lamp. – To crystallise your sketches use the sketch book first.

– show LEDs and where USB fits to design. – Include sizes, think draft angle of 15 degrees.

• 3D shape of your FORMER with strengthening lip and drilled evacuation holes, label materials of the former (MDF) • Sketch how you can fit your circuit or battery and power switch to your lamp.

• Show the draft angles for your former ,and include the main dimensions.

• All sketches need to be presented neatly and coloured.

• Label and explain your design, and detailed aspects of your former.

• THINK BIG SKETCHES to fill the A2 sheet.
