2- Urban renewal- contrats de quartier durable
Working on the existing neighbourhoods (most of the city is
already built):
• Since 1994: 60 existing neighbourhoods have been renovated
• Investments are made in a transversal strategy: in one district:
projects in new housings, local infrastructures, public spaces,
economy, environnement
• 60 million euros each year. 750 million euros since 1994.

•New regulation on protection of nature : ordonnance nature
•14% of the territory is classified as NATURA 2000 zones
•Green walk (promenade verte): 60km of bike and pedestrian
trails around brussels discovering natural reserves

•Reduction of green house gaz emissions by 18% between 2004 and 1012
