What is the FCAT 2.0?

FCAT=Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test

Test given to Florida students to determine what they know and can do in Reading & Math Multiple choice questions 4 days of testing (2 reading sessions & 2 math sessions of 70 minutes each)

When is the FCAT 2.0?

April 16-19

April 14-15 (Mon. - Tues.)

April 16-17 (Wed. - Thurs.)

How is the FCAT 2.0 scored?

Students can receive scores ranging from

Level 1-Level 5

(Level 1= lowest and Level 5 = highest) Students in grade 3 must achieve an FCAT Score of

LEVEL 2 or higher in Reading

to be eligible for promotion to the 4 th grade. 5

How can I help?

Make sure your child:

• Arrives to school on time • Gets a good night’s sleep • Eats a healthy breakfast • Practices reading daily to build stamina for longer passages 6

Completes ALL 10 ASSIGNMENTS of

Reading Plus per week

• Completes reading homework carefully (underlining & using x’s and ?’s) • Reads AR books at their level and takes weekly AR quizzes at school

(Computer lab opens at 8:00am Mon.- Fri.) Knows you care!

What are Test Taking Strategies?

• Make sure to carefully read each question (Reread if necessary) • Do not spend too much time on any one question (If the question is too difficult, skip it and come back to it later) • Read ALL answer choices and mark your x’s and ?’s • Eliminate the answers that you know are silly or wrong, then select the best answer 8

• Do NOT leave ANY questions unanswered (They will be marked wrong) • Go back and look for the answer • In math make sure to show ALL your work (Do NOT do the work in your head) • If finished before time is up, go back and check each answer 9
