January 2012
State President’s
Message
Ashley Koby
I’d like to start by congratulating each of you on a very
successful 2011. As an organization, I believe we had
our focus where it needed to be – on helping others
through service. As most of you know, we exceeded
our 60,000 hour service goal by 8,800 hours. That’s
phenomenal!! Thank You!!
I’m actually quite humbled to be leading the
organization into our 50th year of existence. When you
think about how many lives have been touched, how
much service has been done, and how many
relationships have been developed over those 50
years, it should touch your heart and make you proud.
Citizens has made a continuous positive impact across
this state and for this company. I’m sure the ladies that
came together in 1962 would be proud that we are over
3,600 strong and have a net worth of over $2m!
In addition to our continued focus on service this year,
we are putting an emphasis on encouraging
participation and marketing the organization. There
are several things in the works – Gerardo Morales is
developing three short videos to educate folks on our
registered charities. Cheryl Davis is coordinating our
new group on Yammer. This can be used to share
upcoming dates, events, ideas, and successes across
the state. If you are on Yammer, please join the group.
We are also revising some of our incentives to
encourage participation. More about this and other
initiatives will be shared at Officers Training.
I want to thank each of you on behalf of the state board
for all you do. It was a great MLK Day of Service and
it’s going to be a great 2012!

Donation to Breaking Chains Ministries
General Office Hosts
Christmas Dinner & Gifts
For Christian City Residents
December 15, members of the General Office Chapter
were hosts to the residents of a girls cottage and the
house parents and their family at a dinner and party at
the Corporate Headquarters. The girls always enjoy the
special treat of coming to the Georgia Power building. A
delicious meal was served and each person, including the
house parents and their children, received gifts from the
chapter. Angela Gillis and Leslie Lawrence co-chair the
event each year.
Above is a picture of members of the Clayton Chapter
making a $500 donation to Marty Wilson of Breaking
Chains Ministries. The ministry provides assistance to
people suffering from substance abuse, counseling to
prisoners and assistance to their children. Shown in the
picture (l-r) is Derek Goodwin, Ryan Walls, Brent Edwards,
Ms. Wilson, Cristina Hodges and Tenille Barrett.
