Potential of solar energy What is Photovoltaics (PV)?

Photovoltaic is the most elegant way of producing electricity

Photovoltaics means turning daylight directly into dc electricity Done by photovoltaic cells (PV cells), assembled into PV modules     There are no moving parts There is no 'fuel', apart from daylight The modules need no maintenance In principle, almost indefinite lifetime PV works with both direct sunlight and indirect daylight (more light = more power)

   Connected in parallel with the public network The systems work as small distributed power plants The system does not have any energy storage – the grid serves as an energy storage balancing the load and production mismatch.
