 1996: 1st version developed with INSERM, France
– Remote data entry started on 1 January 1997
with 22 pilot NICs
 Since 2003 FluNet is based on the Global Health Atlas platform
– Web-based interactive data reporting and mapping system maintained by the
WHO Public Health Mapping and GIS team
 Jun – Nov 2009 Offline FluNet due to IT technical problems
 Dec 2009 back to online FluNet
 Nov 2010 new FluNet homepage launched
