Progress from the last update
• Initial TOSCA gap analysis has been ACCEPTED by NFV MANO WG
which imply that MANO consider TOSCA as probable candidate for
describing its descriptors.
• The accepted text from MANO GS has been shared with TOSCA TC as a
JIRA issue.
• Although the text is accepted, it is by no means completed. The MANO GS
may evolve over the time with the advancement of Gap Analysis activities
being performed in NFV.
• AT&T & CenturyLink has also proposed to use TOSCA as data modeling
language for NFV descriptors.
• NFV has received new liaison DMTF, OIF, ATIS, 3GPP, Apache
CloudStack, NGMN and OpenDaylight.

Assumption about descriptors (MANO)
• MANO will define Information elements required in each of the
descriptors irrespective or the modeling language used.
• Defining the data model for those descriptors is out-of-scope of
NFV thus MANO.
• Gap analysis & Recommendation will be provided to relevant
SDO/Organization to define NFV data model.
• Two proposal have been submitted till now i.e TOSCA (ACCEPTED)
and YANG (In-discussion).

Current & Future activities in MANO
• Defining the Information Element/Model?? for all the descriptors
we have.
• Gap Analysis & Recommendations to TOSCA would be completed
by April 2014

Recommendation to TOSCA TC
• Analysis the TOSCA Gap Analysis accepted in NFV to check it for
correctness.
• Facilitate a formal liaison statement from OASIS TOSCA to ETSI
NFV proposing ETSI NFV to consider TOSCA’s work in there
proceedings as required.
• A draft proposal is submitted to TOSCA TC for discussion.
• This will enable ETSI NFV to appoint a liaisons for TOSCA, giving
more weightage to TOSCA related proposal.
