Who was Vincent Van Gogh?
Van Gogh was fascinated by the Impressionist painters bright paintings, the energy which burst from the canvases and by the use of light. Vincent van Gogh was one of the most tragic artist who ever lived. He was tormented by bouts of mental illness and was sometimes hospitalized of his condition. In 1890 his illness overtook him.

Jacques-Louis David was
Son of a wealthy French merchant. In 1804 he became the royal Painter to Napoleon. His works capture the pure or realistic qualities of his subjects. After the fall of Napoleon David was banished in 1816 from France and fled to Brussels, where he spent ten years. During this time he returned to painting mythological subjects. He died at the age of 77 and was buried in Brussels his heart was buried somewhere else.

Salvador Dali

Who was Dali ?
Salvador Dali was born in Figueras, Spain in 1904. He was one of the most famous and unusual artist of the twentieth century. Dali’s best known paintings are called surrealistic. The are filled with strange and familiar objects that have been changed. Dali became known for his outrageous behavior such as arriving at an event in a limousine filled with cauliflower. He believed aliens from outer space could communicate with him through his moustache. Dali was man of many talents, he was a painter, sculptor, directed movies, and designed clothing. Dali died at the age of the age of 85 of heart failure. He is interred in his museum, surrounded by his art.
