• His full name is Michael Jeffrey
Jordan.
• He was born in Brooklyn, New
York on February 17th, 1963.
• The son of James and Deloris
Michael Jordan along with four
other siblings.
• When Michael was still a young
child, his family moved from
Brooklyn to Wilmington, North
Carolina.
• Before Michael’s basketball skills
emerged, he liked to play baseball
with his father.
• During his teenage years, Michael’s baseball skills got him
recognized throughout North Carolina.
• After his team won the state championship in the Babe Ruth
League, Michael was named the most valuable player.
• He attended Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina.
• He attempted to follow in his brother’s footsteps and play
basketball, but since he was only 5 foot 11 inches, skinny, and a
sophomore, he was cut from the varsity basketball team.
•His coach gave him playing time on the junior varsity team,
where he averaged 25 points a game.
•The following summer, he grew to 6 foot 3 inches tall and
began his journey to greatness.
• Michael played college basketball at
University of North Carolina due to meeting
a legendary UNC coach at a basketball
camp.
•He earned a starting spot as a freshman on
the basketball team, only the fourth
freshman to do so under Coach Smith.
•During the 1982 NCAA championship game
against Georgetown University, Michael
made the game winning jump shot to earn
the victory, as well as the respect of many
coaches and players.
•After two more years playing at UNC,
Michael declared eligibility for the NBA
draft.
• Before his first professional game,
Jordan played on the United States
National team in the 1984 Olympics.
• The transition from college to the pros
was not easy for Michael, but he
eventually caught onto the new
schemes.
• During his professional career, Michael
earned many honors, including 6 time
NBA champion, 5 time NBA MVP, 14
time NBA all-star, 3 time MBA all-star
MVP, along with 10 scoring titles.
•Michael retired with the NBA’s highest
scoring average of 30.1 ppg.

All in all, Michael Jordan is one of the
greatest basketball players that is also
a great role model. He will always be
remembered not only as a great
athlete, but as one of the greatest
leaders in sports history.
