Idle refinery relocated from Whitehorse to 145 hectare parcel of farmland in Strathcona County
1948
Official opening of “Edmonton refinery” processing 6 kbd Leduc crude oil
1949-1969
Various expansions to 26kbd; medium conversion; lubes addition in 1955
1976
Official opening of Strathcona refinery in 1976 (capacity 145kbd). Built to replace Edmonton,
Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg refineries
1981
Expanded to 179 kbd including Cold Lake train for processing asphalt
