“Goes Green”
Terri Sapp
At their March 22 meeting, the Jefferson Street Chapter
discussed the importance of ‘going green.’ As the officers
took their turn at the podium speaking about upcoming
events and the various ways of recycling, attendees
passed around ENERGY STAR light bulbs and took the
“Change a Light, Change the World pledge.” The goal is
to gain the attention of co-workers and their families in
hopes that they will choose to make more energy efficient
and earth friendly choices. In support of Earth Day/Week,
the chapter will be accepting donations of a classic Dr.
Seuss book, The Lorax, as well as monetary contributions
thru April 18. Donations benefit the reading program at
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding.
Books and funds will be delivered to the hospital on 4/19.
Also, the USED BOOK DRIVE for American Kidney
Services will be held 4/16-4/20; another easy way of
reducing, reusing, and recycling!

Hayes and Edie Scales from the State Office were in
attendance. The group had made a great 50th anniversary
banner for all members to sign! As of March 31, they
have 330 members. Customer Care’s theme song is still
“We Want 500”!

Metro South Volunteer Supports Arts Alive
Arts Alive is a special program at Luella Elementary in Clayton
County to foster the arts in a life-long connection with the
student and their community. March was National Youth Art
Month and Luella uses this time to focus on the arts with the
students. The culminating activity for the month is the day long
fine arts festival called Arts Alive in which Antoinette Wright,
Metro South Second V.P., served as a volunteer. During this
festival students were able to meet and see the work of visual
artists, performing artists, story tellers, and many more from the
community and the surrounding areas. Students also had a
chance throughout the day to create artworks, musical
instruments ,and much more by visiting the various stations
that were setup for their enjoyment and learning.

came out to enjoy a fabulous egg hunt and an evening
movie on the grass at Plant Branch’s pavilion area. The
chapter held a fundraiser to determine which department
manager would be the Easter Bunny. Myron Hester,
Engineering Manager, graciously fulfilled his role and
brought smiles to many children that day!

tooth brushes, tooth paste, shampoo, razors, candy, etc.
