Joystick driving
HOW IT WORKS
Autopilot integrated joystick
Press the dedicated button on the joystick for activation
Push the joystick sideways to steer
Steer boat
Adjust course
Rotate the joystick knob to adjust course
A minor twist gives 1 degree course change
A longer twist gives 5 degrees change
Holding the knob fully twisted gives ~10 degrees/second
When the joystick is in upright position the autopilot
automatically holds the current course
The autopilot automatically engages after a
manoeuvre/course change

The Complete EVC Program
Aquamatic sterndrive
Diesel inboard
Sailboat
Volvo Penta offers a range of smart options for easier, more comfortable driving and
manoeuvring. Thanks to the flexibility of the EVC common electronic platform, all options
are easy to install.
e-Key remote (NEW)
With only one key switch on/off the main breakers, it makes handling the boat a
lot easier. In addition to increasing theft protection. Buttons for optional add-on
functions. Convenient, secure and easy to install.
Single-lever mode
With the Single-lever mode, shift and throttle for all engines – twin, triple or quad
installations – is easily operated with only one lever. It is comfortable and gives
precise control over the boat speed even in rough seas.
Cruise control
A useful feature for adjusting and fine-tuning the engine rpm. With the easy-toreach button on the control, the driver can optimize the boat speed for best
possible fuel economy and comfort.

Trip computer
The Trip computer shows continuously updated information about e.g. fuel consumption,
distance to empty and trip time on the multi-information displays. This enables the driver to
adjust the driving for minimal fuel consumption.
Battery management (NEW)
Provides full monitoring of the battery status also at the helm. Makes remote control possible.
Robust, marine design with no moving parts. Easy to install and easy to use. Can also be used
as stand-alone without EVC.
Low-speed mode
The adjustable Low-speed mode is integrated in the controls. Thanks to a slip coupling in the
gearbox, the boat speed at idling – e.g. driving in marinas and canals – can be reduced by
around 50%, from 5–6 knots to 2–3 knots.
Autopilot (NEW)
The perfect support to the driver. Holds the set course and adjusts to all changes. A complete
plug-and-play system, fully integrated in the Volvo Penta EVC platform.

Joystick driving (NEW)
A new, ergonomically designed solution for easy and intuitive driving – push and rotate the
joystick for precise manoeuvring at all speeds. Requires the new, integrated Autopilot. A
complete plug-and-play system
Joystick docking
Docking and close-quarter manoeuvring made simpler and safer. Using just the joystick, it lets
the driver steer the boat in any direction or revolve it. Install up to six joysticks for best view in
all situations.
Tow mode for water sport
This is a very convenient option, perfect for water skiing, wakeboarding or tubing. After the
driver has set a maximum engine rpm, the engine maintains the speed and compensates for
any changes in load. Integrated in the controls.

Powertrim Assistant
Automatically gives the boat’s drive trim for best possible running attitude. The result is reduced
fuel consumption and CO2 emissions combined with faster acceleration, higher top speed and
better comfort. Integrated in the controls.
Dynamic Positioning System
With the Dynamic Positioning System the boat’s position and heading can be held and kept
within a very limited area. A convenient and useful support when, for example, preparing for
docking or waiting for refueling
Sportfish mode
Makes a boat extremely manoeuvrable at fishing. With the pods locked toe-out, the driver can
rapidly turn the boat around its own axis and follow the fish at high speed in reverse, using only
the engine controls.
