Animal Tracking
Market:
• Field Data Collection
Application:
• Animal Tracking, replacing a paper based
system to efficiently update records, find and
treat animals and boost production
Solution:
• Psion Teklogix in partnership with VAS
provided the solution using WORKABOUT
Pro with Agrident reader and AES software,
134.2 KHz HDX ear tags placed on each
animal ear. The time required to check each
animal was reduced from 45 minutes to 15
minutes (interrogation of individual animal’s
medical records now takes 1.5 seconds)

Motorola MC 9090: Bulky and heavy
create rugged look, no GPS, no 3G
(WWAN), old architecture, no Qwerty
keypad.
Motorola MC 9500: The MC9500 is a
evolution of the MC9000 series. They
claim a modular design, but this is limited
to the radio and keyboard.
Intermec CK3: Wi-Fi only, targeted
specifically at inventory applications –
warehousing, retail, shop floor. Voice and
speech enabled. Less rugged and lighter
than its predecessor the CK31.
LXE MX7: WiFi only, strictly an SCL
device, primarily for warehouses and
DC’s, older generation with limited
battery capacity, more common in
Americas than EMEA
