Biography
BSc in Chemistry with Biological Science in 2003.
PhD in heterogeneous catalysis (2006) with Professor Graham Hutchings, FRS
Post doctoral research associate in Cardiff Catalysis Institute 2007-2012.
JSPS fellowship at Tokyo Metropolitan University with Professor Haruta, 2010.
Chancellor’s research fellowship awarded 2013 (Cardiff Catalysis Institute, Cardiff Uni
versity School of Chemistry).
Awards and publications:
Dr. Jennifer K Edwards’s contributions to precious metal research were recognised by t
he International Precious Metal Institute (USA) in 2011 when she was awarded the
Carol Tyler Award.
In February 2013, she was awarded the Clara Immerwahr award, by the German Catal
ysis network UniCat.
She has published 46 papers, highlights are 2 publications in Science, 2 in Angewandte
Chemie.
Current research interests:
Research interests include developing new preparative methodologies to produce highly
active heterogeneous nanoalloyed precious metal catalysts. Application of these catalysts
for a number of catalytic transformations including:
◆ Selective hydrogenation
◆ Selective oxidation
◆ Fossil fuel free synthesis of platform chemicals
◆ CO2 utilisation
