area and meet the Transfer Admission Guarantee requirements:
San Diego Community College District (City, Mesa, and Miramar)

*The TAG does not apply to applicants to the School of Nursing, Music and Dance,

Fall 2012 Admission Process
Transfer Admissions Guarantee Requirements
1. Units: Complete a minimum of 60 transferrable semester units
by the end of spring 2012.
2. General Education (GE): Complete a certified GE package of
39 units (CSU GE or IGETC) or any applicable lower division
GE pattern listed in the SDSU General Catalog, including the
Golden Four GE requirements by the end of spring 2012.

listed in the SDSU General Catalog by the end of Spring 2012
(some majors require that courses be completed with a C or

4. GPA – Meet the GPA required for the major, or a 2.4, whichever
is higher listed in the SDSU General Catalog (students from
outside the local admission area may need to meet a high
“ranking” GPA than the major).
Note: For applicants with prior SDSU Regular Session, Special
Session, Open University or Cross Enrollment, an overall GPA of
2.0 or higher is required for that coursework.
Fall 2012 Admission Process
Transfer Admissions Guarantee Requirements
Students who at the time of application have completed 100% of their
transferable courses from Palomar or Mira Costa community colleges
and apply for programs that are not available at CSU San Marcos will
also have the first admission priority, as long as they have completed
the above requirements. A list of these programs can be found online
at www.sdsu.edu/admissions.
Admissions priority will be given to students who complete an AAT/AS-T degree at a community college that is specifically designated
“for Transfer” in the degree title and that SDSU has agreed to accept
(visit www.c-id.net for a list of CSU campuses that accept AA-T/AA-S
degrees).
Fall 2012 Admission Process
Golden Four
In order to be eligible as a transfer student for SDSU, a student
must complete a course in the following four areas:
•
•
•
•
Written Communication
Oral Communication
Critical Thinking
Mathematics
These courses must be completed with a C or higher grade (C- is
not acceptable).
Fall 2012 Admission Process
SDSU Supplemental Application
All transfer applicants must submit an additional online supplemental application
through their SDSU WebPortal account. To ensure accuracy, students must refer
to their college transcripts or education plan to fill out the supplemental application.
The deadline to submit the supplemental application is January 20, 2012.
Fall admission is based on self-reported information. Admission is provisional
pending verification of the self-reported information provided on the CSUMentor
application and supplemental application using an official transcript.
Admission may be rescinded if GPA, completed courses, or course grades
are lower than what is reported on the applications or if any admission
deadlines are missed. Please make sure students report accurate
information.
Fall 2012 Admission Process
Fall admission is based on self-reported information and the major to which
students apply.
Students cannot change their major during the application process.
Students applying to Music or Dance will be required to complete an audition,
and their admission decisions will be contingent upon successfully passing that
audition.
Students applying to the Nursing program will be required to submit an additional
supplemental application by November 30th. Please visit http://nursing.sdsu.edu
for more information.
Admission is provisional pending verification of the self-reported information on
the application from official transcripts.
Admission may be rescinded if the GPA or course grades are lower than what is
reported on the application.
Fall 2012 Admission
Communication Process
Applicants receive the following notifications:
E-mail from SDSU within two weeks after CSUMentor application is filed. This
e-mail contains their SDSU RedID that students will use to set up their SDSU
WebPortal.
Students can check the status of their application in the “Admission Status”
section of the SDSU WebPortal.
Applicants are encouraged to read the SDSU “I Have Applied” Web site for
“next steps” in the admission process.
Admission and denial notifications–along with enrollment instructions–will be
sent via hard copy letter in March.
Fall 2012 Admission
Appeals
Due to the number of applications SDSU receives, it is unlikely an
appeal will be granted. However, SDSU will accept appeals,
especially for extreme circumstances.
If a student thinks their situation qualifies for an admissions appeal, a
letter from the student and any supporting documentation should be
sent to the following address:
University Admission Appeals Committee
San Diego State University
5500 Campanile Drive
San Diego, CA 92182-7455
Students will be notified in writing of the appeal decision.
