• 66% of Southwark school children achieved a Good
Level of Development (GLD) (60% in 2013)

KS2 performance mirrors the direction of
performance at a national level

KS2 Provisional Headlines
•
Southwark’s KS2 performance largely mirrors the direction of performance at a
national level
•
In maths, compared to the previous year, results remained unchanged.
•
Nationally, science KS2 results have not changed.
In contrast Southwark improved its performance by 1 percentage point.
•
Compared to other Local Authorities in England, Southwark are:
in the top quartile for maths,grammar, punctuation and spelling test
in the 2nd quartile for reading and writing
in the 3rd quartile for science
•
In reading, writing and maths combined Southwark is ranked joint 32nd in the second
quartile. (joint 55th in 2013)
•
Southwark’s results are in line with KS2 performance at London level for separate
reading; separate maths; GPS; and reading, writing and maths combined.
In contrast, we are below the London averages for writing (87% - London); and
science (89% - London)


Following last year’s decline in percentage of pupils making the expected 2
levels of progress in reading, writing and maths, 93% of Southwark pupils
made the expected progress in reading; 94% made the expected progress
in writing; and 92% made the expected progress in maths. These figures
were an improvement on the previous year’s results of 91%; 93% and 91%
respectively

Southwark remained in the top quartile for 2 level progress results in
reading and maths subjects, but slipped from top to the 2nd quartile for
writing.

Not withstanding this, Southwark continues to outperform the national
average for all 2 levels progress measures
