Historical Injury Patterns - December
Slips, Trips and Falls, that’s what December brings. It may be due to ice, uneven walk-ways,
lack of attention, the persistent darkness, or just being in a hurry to get inside where it is warm.
Eliminate the slips and we could almost eliminate all of December’s injuries.

Discussion – Winter is here, high winds, hard freezes, slick conditions, long nights, short days,
snow and Christmas. Lot’s of distractions and increased opportunities for injuries, equipment
failures, alarms and other impacts to work.
Things to Consider
Management Actions

 Check dampers, doors and


Likely the area will see a

the Christmas Holidays.
Early morning frost will
make walkways slippery.
Vacation use will highest
at the end of the month.

sure they are set correctly to
avoid freeze damage.
 Ensure snow removal and ice
melting equipment and

on safety as the conditions
will be changing dramatically
from one day to the next.
