How do we operate?

Speaking from experience

 Money talks… – – Most vessels still sails with paper charts as the official chart Due to price, they combine this with various un-authorized electronic charts even if ENCs are available  Hard to convert to ECDIS/ENCs – – Both Flag- and Port State have to accept ECDIS as a main tool for navigation Some still doesn’t, and the vessel needs up to date paper charts anyway  In general, use of ENC increase slowly  Has to be enforced by laws/regulations, or price Jeppesen Proprietary
