Animals have different feeding habits.
We can classify them according to their
feeding habits.
• Animals like cow
giraffe ,elephant,
goat , monkey eat
plants or other parts
of a tree. Such
animals are called
herbivorous animals.
• Animals like lion ,
tiger,snake ,frog ,
leopard hunt other
small animals and
eat them. Such
animals are called
carnivorous animals.
Animals like bear, cat, rat, jackal eat both plants
and animals.Such animals are called omnivorous
animals.
CUD CHEWING ANIMALS
Some animals like cow, buffalo,camel
nibble their food first. When they
relax they bring back part of the
food from inside and chew it properly.
This is called chewing the cud.
Animals like rabbit,
squirrel and rat
have sharp front
chisel like teeth.
With these teeth
they can bite hard
rough food grains
and other things.
Such animals are
called gnawing
animals.
Some animals have no teeth.They cannot chew
their food.They have to swallow their
food.Snakes,Frogs,Lizards etc. have sticky
tongue and can open their mouth wide to swallow
their prey..
Flesh eating animals like dog,
lion fox or cat tear, chew and
then they swallow their food.
ANIMALS LIKE BUTTERFLIES, LEECHES
AND MOSQUITOES HAVE LONG TUBE LIKE
STRUCTURE TO SUCK FOOD.
EARTHWORM SWALLOW SOIL AND
CONSUMES FOOD FROM IT. THE
UNDIGESTED MATERIAL IS THROWN OUT
FROM ITS BODY.
ELEPHANTS EAT WITH THE HELP OF THEIR
TRUNK. TRUNK HELPS IN UPROOTING
PLANTS AND ALSO SUCKING WATER.
