Initiators
Condition: In a classroom, given M11 Branch Line
(Inert), M12 Transmission Line (Inert), M81 Fuse
Igniter (Inert),M14 Time Delay (Inert), M9 Holder,
Adhesive Tape, Sandbag, M-2 Crimpers, Detonation
Cord (Inert), and TNT (Inert).
Standards: Identify MDI components and their
applications. Perform misfire procedures, and
construct single, dual, and combination firing
systems using MDI correctly and in sequence, so
when initiated it would detonate if it were live.

HISTORY
• Developed in the late 40s
• Used in Civilian Market
• Introduced to the Army in 1996
CONSIDERATIONS
•MDI DOES NOT CHANGE
CHARGE EMPLACEMENT OR SETUP
•MDI IS STRICTLY AN IGNITION
SYSTEM CHANGE.
CAPABILITIES
• Standard military demolition missions
• Deepwater up to 30 meters
• Quarrying(with special application).
• Instant or delay initiation
• Eliminates accidental initiation from static,
transmitters, or electrical discharge
• Hybrid (two types of firing systems)
•MDI Stand Alone
•MDI/Det Cord, Det Cord/MDI
COMPONENTS
M12/M13-Cap
M15-Cap
