The PDSA Dickin Medal
The PDSA Dickin Medal is known as the Victoria
Cross for animals.
Maria Dickin, CBE decided to award the bravery
of animals.
The PDSA Dickin Medal was created in 1943 and
has been awarded to dogs, pigeons, horses and a
cat!
Treo the hero
• Treo was awarded the Dickin Medal in
February 2010.
• Treo saved the lives of many soldiers
when he found a bomb on the roadside
where soldiers were about to pass.

from France to Britain in 1942.

• Endel was the partner of a Gulf War
Veteran.
• One cold night Allen was knocked out of his
wheel chair in a car park and left
unconscious.
• Endel rolled Allen into the recovery position,
and pulled his blanket over him to keep him
warm.
• Endel then pushed Allen’s mobile phone by
his head and waited with Allen until he
regained consciousness, then Endel ran to
get help.
