Lorna’s Day
Lorna needed to buy a birthday present so she decided to go on a
shopping spree on Saturday afternoon. She went to Top Shop to
buy a t-shirt for her friend. She then went to WHSmith to buy
some ribbon and wrapping paper.
She then went home and wrapped the gift. It looked so pretty in
the golden paper and red bow.
Lorna had thought about going out with her mates for the
evening but was too tired so she stayed at home and watched
‘Strictly come Dancing’.

science department (cheaper than in the shops!). These are
useful throughout the course.

science department, or all past-papers can be accessed through
the AQA website (www.aqa.org.uk)
• Encourage your child to attend the revision sessions at lunchtime and after-school from Easter onwards
• Help your child learn the ‘command words’ which are used in

Tips for Revising Maths
Before you start revising, get all your notes
sorted, and draw up a list of all the topics you
need to cover. LEARN the FORMULAE you need.
Plan exactly when you are going to revise, and be
strict with yourself.
3. Give yourself little treats and things to look
forward to.
4. Don’t just read through the textbook or your
notes!
Don’t just practice the topics you can do.
6. Make sure you ask for help if you get stuck.
7. Practice doing questions under exam
conditions.
8. Practice using your calculator!
9. Show your working out – the more marks
there are for a question, the more working
out they expect to see. Use the marks as a
guide to how long to spend on each
question.
Examination Preparation
• Past paper revision workbooks
• Results Plus
• Revision classes
Examiners estimate that
candidates who show working out
get 10% more marks than those
who don’t.
