Abstract
Transitioning Veteran Education
The definition of education can be somewhat convoluted. While some opportunities are
labeled as educational, military leadership may argue they are not. Education may be
seen as a benefit (not an entitlement), mission training, or as a means to achieve gainful
employment related to skill enhancement. There also exist a wide variety of confusion
about how best to achieve education outcomes for transitioning military within
academic, training and the military.
This roundtable will: 1) Propose education best practices for meeting the needs of
transitioning military; 2) Identify those education/training programs that are succeeding
in meeting the needs of transitioning military in terms of high quality and value added;
3) provide a broad range definition for education related to transitioning military
opportunities and future employment
