The BDO is a camouflage colored, woodland or desert two piece garment
consisting of one coat and one pair of trousers. The BDO provides protection
against chemical agent vapors, liquid droplets, biological agents, toxins, and
radioactive alpha and beta particles. When remove from its vapor barrier bag it
lasts for a minimum of 30 days. The wear time may be extended by the
Commander. The key to its effectiveness is its serviceability. Upon exposure,
it provides 24 hours of protection.
