Resident: A student who currently resides in the same state as the
university they plan to attend.
 Non-Resident: A student who does not currently reside in the
same state as the university they plan to attend.
 Reciprocity: When a state has agreements with neighboring states
to provide lower tuition for residents to attend public colleges and
universities in those states. Typically, non-resident admission fees
and tuition are reduced (or eliminated) if you're a reciprocity
student.
Western Undergraduate Exchange
 What is it: Students in Western states may enroll in
participating two-year and four-year public college
programs at a reduced tuition level: up to 150 percent of the
institution’s regular resident tuition. In all cases, WUE
tuition is considerably less than nonresident tuition.
 Participating States: Alaska, Arizona, California,
Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico,
North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington,
Wyoming
 145 Participating 2 & 4 Year Institutions
