Introduction
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB)
is the regulatory body for all aviation activities in
country.

As a member state of International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO), CAAB acts as the
aeronautical authority
as per Civil Aviation
Ordinance 1960, 1962, 1982, 1985 and the Civil
Aviation Rules 1984 (CAR 84)

Introduction

CAAB is created by merging erstwhile
Department of Civil Aviation (DCA)
 Airport Development Agency Ltd. (ADA)


The organization is headed by Chairman
Responsible for safe, expeditious and efficient flow of air
traffic within the Flight Information Region (FIR)
Bangladesh

Custodian of all airfields and allied facilities including air
navigation facilities


The Primary aviation legislation in Bangladesh is the
Civil Aviation Ordinance 1960

Later Civil Aviation Laws Amendment Ordinance was
adopted in 1985

Ordinance designates the CAA as responsible for the
regulation and control of civil aviation activities in
Bangladesh

It authorizes to make rules with prior approval of
government


The basic Air Navigations are contained in the Civil
Aviation Rules 1984 (CAR-84)

It authorizes the Chairman to publish Air Navigation
Orders (ANOs) to give effects to the CARs

