State Agency Challenge
January 12 – March 20, 2015
State Agency Challenge
Evidence-Based:
Physical Activity Recommendation for Adults:
30 minutes per day on most (5) days per week, or
Total of 150 minutes per week
Behavior Change Theories:
Adults need about 8 – 16 weeks to incorporate a new activity
into their daily routines
State Agency Challenge
How It Works:
In order to complete the Challenge employees must participate in at least
150 minutes of physical activity per week for at least six of the ten weeks of the
Challenge.
As employees complete their sixth week of the Challenge, their agency receives
a completion credit towards the State Agency Challenge.
Although employees can complete multiple six week programs on the Get Fit
Texas online tracker, only one completion counts towards the State Agency
Challenge.
Only programs completed by March 22, 2014 will count for the State Agency
Challenge.
State Agency Challenge
How It Works:
The State Agency Challenge competition is based on an agency’s completion
percentage.
Completion Percentage equals:
Total Number of Agency Completions
divided by
Total Number of FTE’s
Multiplied by 100
State Agency Challenge
How It Works:
DSHS Statewide Wellness Coordinator will present the “Fittest State Agency in
Texas” Awards at the end of the Challenge.
This award will recognize the agencies in each of the size categories (Small,
Mid-size and Large) with the highest completion percentage.
Trophies, plaques and other recognition will be presented at an awards
ceremony at the end of the Challenge.
State Agency Challenge
State Agency Teams:
Each state employee is automatically registered in the State Agency Challenge
when they select their agency when setting up their profile on the Get Fit Texas

Employees do not have to create or join a team to participate.
Employees will be automatically added to their agency team when they select
their agency from the list on the Get Fit Texas web site.
