AASP Goals
To maintain or enhance the level of safety within the
new airspace system.
To renew the airspace and procedures in Alberta and
update our systems in support of the new parallel
runway in Calgary,
To update the NAV CANADA airspace system to take
full advantage of current and planned technologies
that will enable our customers to utilize the latest in
flight deck technologies and
To complete the development and design of the
project by May 2013 for implementation and opening
of the new runway in May of 2014.

Current Project Status
Business Case – nearing completion
4 Options Developed – based on bedpost design
STARs for the 4 options in draft
Circulated amongst Design Working Group
Upcoming design meeting to get feedback on STARs
Enroute phase of flight - designs work in progress

Near Term Next Steps
Meet with Design Working Group to review YC
terminal designs.
Finalize Option Cases – (4)
Fast Time simulation of Option Cases to evaluate
efficiencies to Base Case.
Narrow the design to 1 or 2 and focus on these for
final efficiency determination.
Further business case analysis.
Finalize Enroute portions of plans.

Edmonton Terminal Airspace
Review
Timelines - driven by CYXD and CZVL milestones.
Current Project Activities
Stakeholder Identification
Review of current airspace structure
Identification of operational opportunities for both Customers and ANSP
Areas of Initial Consideration
A review of the utilization of the airspace to the North and Northeast of CYXD; since RWY
16-34 has been closed.
A feasibility review of resizing the size of Class C airspace, with the closure of CYXD, and
a goal of increased access to this airspace. i.e. the Chipman Soaring Area
Assurance that any new approaches are kept within controlled airspace and the impact
this will have on future designs.
Collaborative Approach
To determine requirements and constraints of Stakeholders.
Communication and coordination for customer feedback is a project requirement.
