American Flag
Our flag has changed
over time. When our
country was young it
was very important to
create a flag that
showed our
independence.
This flag is known as the
“Betsy’s Ross Flag.” It was
one of the original designs of
the American flag. It has 13
stripes and stars for each of
the colonies. As our country
grew, the number of stars
grew too.
There are 13 red and
white stripes to
represent the original
13 colonies, and 50
stars for the states in
the USA.
Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is
a gift from France to
the United States for
our country’s 100th
birthday. She is on
Liberty Island next to
New York.
