SCOPE OF PROGRAM
Supports 5 themes :
• Human factors – reduction of driver distraction
• Communication systems and networks
• Data management solutions
• In-vehicle technologies and devices
• Traffic management operations
Focus on “final stages of development and demonstration of
actual products ready for market”.

APPLICATION TYPES
Academia-led projects:
• Industry cash goes to academic institution
• OCE pays up to 100% of direct eligible costs
Industry-led projects:
• Cash contribution pays for direct costs
• OCE pays up to 50% of direct eligible costs

ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS
Ontario academic institutions
Companies with significant Ontario operations
• International partners are welcome
Industry-led: recipients are SMEs with less than
500 employees
Industrial partnerships are encouraged
Project duration: up to 1 year

FUNDING
Can top up academic-led project budget with :
• NSERC Engage/ARD-1 ($25,000) – 1st engagement
• OCE TalentEdge ($30,000)

APPLICATION PROCESS
Competitive process :
• Internal and external reviewers score applications
• Awards based on scores and availability of funds
Applications use VIP 1 program template and rules
Deadline for applications :
Decision by :
December 1 2014
February 28 2015
