the three links of the

pays per capita fees to

Your union dues….
You pay 1.8% of your salary in union dues:
Each $100 earned, the employer returns $1.80 of it to
the union. The union then divides it in the following
manner:
$0.72 to the CSN
$0.47 to the federation (FEESP)
$0.06 to the central council /
conseil central (CCMM)
$0.55 to the local union (APPA)

The executive committee represents the union
members. It is also responsible for scheduling
the general assemblies, authorizing the
expenses forecasted in the budget, makes
recommendations to the general assembly
and acts as spokesperson for the members
with the employer.

What are union statutes (Constitution)?
The regulations which establish the jurisdiction of your
union, the affiliation and dis-affiliation, its members, the

Constitution, etc.

assembly?

Types of assemblies…
The regular assembly
The regular general assembly is held according to the
schedule specified in the Consitution. Its agenda may be
modified at the beginning of the assembly in order to add
other items to be discussed. A varia point appears on the
agenda for this reason, allowing the members to question,
discuss & express their views on these other matters.
The annual assembly
This assembly is held in order for the executive committe to
present its annual report, the members of the various other
committees to present their reports, and for the SecretaryTreasurer to present the financial statements. It is also the
forum in which the budget forecasts are adopted and the
elections of the executive committee members take place.
Accreditation Assemblies
The EMSB General Assembly
The EMSB General Assembly regroups the members from
the English Montreal School Board and takes decisions
concerning their employee group.
The CSDM General Assembly
The CSDM General Assembly regroups the members from
the Commission scolaire de Montréal and takes decisions
concerning their employee group.
Sectorial Assemblies
Each accreditation (EMSB or CSDM) can be divided into two
sectors:
The daycare sector general assembly
The EMSB daycare sector assembly regroups members from
the daycare sector class of employment (educators and
technicians) and takes decisions for this group of employees.
The general sector general assembly
The EMSB general sector assembly regroups members from
the general sector classes of employment (including
administrative, technical and special education) and takes
decisions for this group of employees.
