Introduction in the FEPA Congress

Finlandia 2017 will be …
• Arranged in Tampere, May 24th to 28th, 2017
by the Philatelic Federation of Finland and the
Foundation for Promoting Finnish Philately
• The biggest philatelic exhibition in Finland since
Finlandia 88
• Consisting of some ~ 2000 - 2500 frames

…celebrating Finland’s 100 years of
independence…
• Included in The Council of State’s list of
Projects on the centenary of Finland's
independence
• As an “engaging and interesting activity to mark the
centenary year”
• To build up “shared understanding of Finland's
independence and development as a nation, the
significance of Finland and Finnishness today, and
the nation's future challenges and new direction”

• Solutions for the jurors to view the exhibits in advance
• New iPad solution for evaluating the exhibits

The venue is Tampere-Hall…
• Tampere Hall is Scandinavia’s largest Congress
and Concert Centre
• Only 500 meters from Tampere railway station
• The entire Hall is reserved for Finlandia 2017

• Tampere is the 2nd largest city in
Finland with 220 000 inhabitants.
• Excellent connections by air, rail and
road only 170 km from Helsinki.
• Direct flights from many major
European cities, including Stockholm,
London, Bremen, Frankfurt, Milan
etc. (summer 2014)

…new/renovated facilities…
• Tampere Hall is going through major renovations
by the time of Finlandia 2017
• A new Marriot-hotel will be built next to TampereHall, during 2015-2017.

…and attractions for everyone.
• The world-famous Moomin-characters (Moominvalley) moves to Tampere-Hall in 2016.
• Additional program outside the exhibition itself is
being planned for all interests and age groups.
• The exhibition will be preceded by a number of
regional and local events during 2015-2017
• Finlandia 2017 will also be visible in the
philatelic events 2015-2017
