include major rivers - the Blue Nile, the
White Nile, Limjpopo, Niger, Volta,
Senegal & Chari & major lakes - Lake
Chad, Lake Victoria & Lake Malawi.
•There are 73 major rivers & lakes, 1300
small lakes, 13 major river basins & 104
small river basins across Africa .
• Abundance of water across the continent.

In 1996, Laos was importing rice extensively, but with the help of Kirloskar pump sets &
irrigation systems rice production went up 25 times to about 2.2 Million tonnes in 2004.
